With the advancement of technology, newer and faster chipsets are produced. From the Nforce4 era to today's X38, P35, and the chipsets from the 680i series, enthusiasts know that heat is the number one enemy. In order to keep the system stable and running smoothly, it is vital to cool all parts and components of the computer. Those components include the north-bridge and south-bridge chipset especially when your overclocking the voltage. Temperatures under that kind of condition can run up as high as 60-70 Celsius degrees! Even though there isn't a lot of software to detect chipset temperatures, do not doubt for even one second that high rising heat isn't prowling around waiting to eat up your chipset along with your computer's performance.

Current phenomenon that we see is motherboard manufacturers jumping on the heat pipe-cooling-system band wagon. This cooling system links the north bridge, south bridge, and the MOSFET all together creating a weight issue, not to mention the hugeness and the odd size of it. But do they really work? The temperatures for other parts of components are no where near the chipset temperatures so do you really think that the cooling system is helping to reduce the system temperature? Or that it just distributes the temperatures evenly across the system limiting the cooling capacity? When you increase the FSB to over 500 Mhz at over 1.5V, that's when you start to realize the case is just that!

It does not matter if your board utilizes the push pin or the horseshoe hook method, with HR-05/IFX' new mounting mechanism you can adjust to any length in accordance to the mounting holes.

 Even though HR-05/IFX was designed to be a true passive chipset heat sink, we also 4took into account the extremists who are itching to pair up the HR-05/IFX with a fan and we included a pair of fan clips for a 80mmx15mm fan installation.
